The Washington County Historic Courthouse is the longest standing courthouse in the state of Minnesota. Located high on the hill overlooking downtown Stillwater, it has served as the county seat for over 100 years. Now as part of the Washington County Park, the Historic Courthouse offers daily guided and self-guided tours, activities for families, educational programming for the public, schools and scouts, and public events.
Tours
The Historic Courthouse offers daily guided public tours, self-guided tours, and a variety of themed tours throughout the year. Enjoy a walking tour of the neighborhood while learning about the history of the St. Croix Valley, and listening to tales of the people who lived and worked at the courthouse.
Gathering and Meeting Spaces
The Washington County Historic Courthouse is perfect for a variety of social events and business meetings. This historic site overlooks downtown Stillwater with easy access to all the amenities the Stillwater has to offer. The courthouse complex includes a variety of unique meeting spaces located alongside historical exhibitions, including: the Courtroom, Register of Deeds Meeting Room, and the North Lobby Meeting Room. Visitors will also enjoy the beautiful, rolling grounds with historical markers and monuments that convey the history of the area.
The Historic Courthouse is not available for wedding ceremonies or receptions.
