Washington County Parks feature snowshoe lessons starting Jan. 22
Experience snowshoeing at Lake Elmo Park Reserve this winter, led by a naturalist from Warner Nature Center, starting Jan. 22. During this program, participants will learn more about the ancient art of snowshoeing while improving their well-being with a good dose of physical exercise, fresh air, and nature.
The schedule is
- Sunday, Jan. 22, 1 to 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:45 p.m.
- Sunday, Jan. 29, 1 to 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:45 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 5, 1 to 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:45 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 12, 1 to 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:45 p.m.
The cost is $5 per person for each lesson and includes equipment rental. Participants must be 9 years of age or older and accompanied by an adult. Registration is required as class size is limited; register on the Washington County website at www.co.washington.mn.us/parks under “Snowshoe lessons.”
Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring water. The lesson includes a one-mile hike.
The classes meet in the Eagle Point Trailhead parking lot. In case of inclement weather or poor snow conditions, lessons will be canceled. Call 651-430-8370 for updates. All vehicles must have a Washington County Parks vehicle permit ($7/day or $30/annual).
Lake Elmo Park Reserve is at the intersection of County Road 19 and County Road 10 (one mile north of Interstate 94) at 1515 Keats Ave. N. in Lake Elmo.
