Join the Halloween costume swap!

The Washington County Environmental Center will be hosting its first-ever free Halloween costume swap on Wednesday, October 11 from 3-6 p.m. Instead of buying new this year, share and reuse costumes that would otherwise only be worn once.

COSTUME DROP-OFF
Bring your clean, gently-used children’s costumes to the Environmental Center between September 12 – October 10. Donations will be accepted inside the main entrance of the Free Product Room and the drive-thru lane.

Hours
Tuesday:  11 a.m. - 7 p.m. 
Thursday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 
Friday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 
Saturday: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

COSTUME SWAP 
Stop in the Free Product Room to browse for pre-loved costumes. Donations are not required to get a costume. Limit one costume per child.

Remaining costumes will be delivered to Washington County donation drop-off locations.

Washington County Public Health & Environment is asking residents to participate in a short survey to inform local planning for groundwater and solid waste programs that help manage garbage, recycling, food waste, yard waste, and hazardous waste from residents. Your input will help us develop programs and services that make Washington County a great place to live, work, and play.

2023 free product room contest kicks off! 

Have you tackled a project using items from the Environmental Center free product room? Maybe you upcycled an old piece of furniture, refinished your hardwood floors, or painted the perfect room. Whatever the project is, we want to hear about it! Submit a photo for a chance to win a prize pack with DIY items!

BizRecyling grant

BizRecycling grant opportunity

Know a business or school looking to significantly reduce or prevent waste? Look no further than the BizRecycling Waste Reduction and Innovation Grant! One-time grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded to eligible businesses and nonprofits for planning, equipment, supplies, and capital improvements that result in a significant reduction of solid waste that the business creates. The application will close on October 13, 2023.

Keep yard waste out of your trash

Did you know that it is illegal to put yard, garden, and tree waste into the garbage? Bring yard waste to a designated drop-off site, have it picked up by your trash hauler during seasonal yard waste collection, or compost yard waste at home.
