Washington County Library features events for June

Washington County Library is featuring events throughout June, in parks and at libraries.

Library in the Park: Heritage Ponds Park, 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 16. Washington County Library will visit a city park in Forest Lake or Hugo every Wednesday this summer. This week, come to Heritage Ponds,(15541 Empress Ave. N., Hugo, for a pop-up library. Get Summer Adventure at Your Library starter packs, take and make project kits, and more! No registration. In case of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled. 

Virtual: Teen Gaming, 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 16. Hey, teens and almost-teens, let's get together and play online games like Among Us, Jackbox, or Board Game Arena. Players will need a computer or other device with an internet connection and Zoom. Register once and use the same Zoom link all summer! Come every week or as often as you're able. For ages 11-18. Virtual: FamilyMeans Memory Café, 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 17. FamilyMeans Virtual Memory Café is a welcoming place for those with memory loss and their caregivers. Join to meet new people, connect with others for support and laughter, and learn about community resources. Virtual: Summer Coding Camp, 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 21, through Thursday, June 24. Washington County Library has partnered with Code SavvyTM to host a special four-day summer coding camp for teens and preteens, ages 10-18. Learn to make mobile apps with Thunkable using drag and drop code blocks. Participants will create apps using components such as translator and image recognizer, and put together clicking games, such as space invaders. Participants will need a laptop or computer, internet connection, and access to Zoom. Registration is required. Register online at WashCoLib.org or call 651-275-8500.

Pub(lic) Library Trivia, 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 24, Can’t go to the pub for trivia? We’re bringing it to you. For this virtual program, participants will need a device to see the questions and a separate device to answer them. Multiple people in the same household can play with one registration, but if you plan to compete against each other, you will need to register separately. Registration is required. Storytime in the Park at Sally Manzara Nature Center, 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 25. Join for an inclusive storytime at Sunfish Lake Park, 10000 Stillwater Lane N., Lake Elmo, that will focus on concepts, such as counting, colors, patterns, the alphabet, and so much more. Recommended for developmental ages 0-5 and their grown-ups. This is an in-person, outdoor event. In case of inclement weather, the program will be cancelled. No registration required. 

Jigsaw Puzzle Competition, 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 26. Avid puzzlers invited to join for a jigsaw puzzle competition. Teams of up to four participants will race to try to finish their puzzle fastest. Participate virtually at home, or by attending the event in person at Oakdale Library. Registration is required. Virtual Family Trivia Night: Superheroes (and Villains!) 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 29. Grab your cape and bring along your trusty sidekicks for Superhero Trivia. Categories will include Marvel, DCEU, and more. Participants will need a device to see the questions and a separate device to answer them. Registration is required.
