Beginning May 1, the Historic Courthouse will be open daily. Public hours will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Take advantage of the new summer schedule and visit the new exhibition, "Spokes & Folks: The Evolution of Bikes & Trails in Washington County," opening June 1. From basic transportation to recreation, from the high-wheel penny farthing to the modern fat-tire bike, the exhibit will highlight how bicycles have impacted the lives of area residents over the past 160 years.
Guided tours and self-guided tours are free. Donations toward the Historic Courthouse Restoration Fund are accepted. Guided tours of the exhibits, courtroom and the 1900s county jail will be offered Wednesday through Sunday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., with an additional 5 p.m. tour offered Thursday and Friday evenings.
