Wednesday, August 4, 2021
Have you seen someone paddling a kayak and thought it looked fun? Ever wondered what you need to get started on a kayak adventure of your own? We’ve got you covered with a beginner kayaking experience that will give you all the essential skills you need and build your confidence on the water!
Join the expert staff of the Wild Rivers Conservancy for an introduction to kayaking at Washington County’s Square Lake Park. You’ll learn the basics of properly fitting a life jacket, how to hold your paddle, and common paddling techniques. Ages 8+, minors must be with registered adult. NO PREVIOUS PADDLING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Once you’re in your kayak on the water, you’ll get the chance to practice your new skills as we paddle along the shoreline.
WHAT TO BRING:
• Depending on the weather and your personal comfort, you may wish to wear a swimsuit. Be prepared to get a bit wet!
• Water and sunscreen
• A Washington County vehicle permit is required ($7 daily / $30 annual).
