Applying for a Marriage License

 can only be processed at the Stillwater Government Center.



You may apply for a marriage license in Washington County regardless of residence or where the ceremony is taking place as long as you are married within the geographical boundaries of Minnesota.

You will need to appear at the Washington County Government Center to take an oath and pay the fee.

 Fee - Full $115.00 or Reduced $40.00*

The Washington County Government Center is the only location accepting Marriage Licenses applications at this time.

All fields must be entered on the application.

      • Full name
      • Full name you wish to have after marriage
      • Current address
      • Social security number, if you have one
      • Date and place of birth
      • Information regarding any previous marriage(s)
      • Address after marriage

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Both applicants must appear in person at the Washington County Government Center to apply.

We do offer same day Marriage License issuance. The Marriage License is good for 6 months.

  • The license is valid for six months from the date of application

Fee


The application fee is $115 or $40 if you have obtained pre-marital education as per M.S. 517.08 and present a completed Reduced Marriage Fee Educator’s Statement at the time of application.
