Due to the large number of voters choosing to cast an absentee ballot in the 2020 general election, the results reported on election night will be incomplete. It’s likely that the outcome and winners of all races will not be clear on election night.
Initial unofficial results will be posted on the secretary of state's website after polls close on Tuesday, Nov. 3. These results will include votes cast in person at polling places on election day and absentee ballots received as of Nov. 3.
All absentee ballots cast by mail that are postmarked by Nov. 3 and delivered to the Washington County Elections Office on Nov. 10 will be processed. This extended timeline is part of the revised statewide rules for absentee voting in 2020. Due to a Court of Appeals ruling, ballots received after Nov. 3 will be segregated.
Updated results will be posted to the secretary of state’s website at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5 and Tuesday, Nov. 10 as remaining absentee ballots are counted.
The official results are expected to be available after the county canvass on Thursday, Nov. 12.
