The Department of Public Health and Environment provides services to protect, promote, and improve the environment in Washington County. The goal of these services is to prevent public’s exposure to environmental hazards. The types of services are the following:
Operation of the Washington County Environmental Center for collection of household hazardous waste
Regulation of food and lodging establishments, swimming pools, manufactured home parks, septic systems, hazardous and solid waste disposal, and public health nuisances
Education resources on food safety, recycling, groundwater protection and waste disposal
The department regularly publishes an electronic newsletter, Environmental e-Update, containing information about local environmental news, services, and events. If you would like to be notified when a new issue is published, go to Notify Me and subscribe.
Report a Concern
To report a concern or complaint about a possible environmental hazard, go to Report a Concern and submit the information. Your report will go directly to the department for followup.
If you suspect that you have become ill from food, call the department or go to Report Your Concern. You can also report through the Minnesota Department of Health Foodborne Illness Hotline at 1-877-FOOD-ILL (1-877-366-3455).
