Advisory Boards

Commissions and advisory boards meet on a regular basis to assist with the orderly development and use of land. Survey and Land Management staff provide technical support for each board/commission.

Board of Adjustment and Appeals


The Washington County Board of Adjustment and Appeals (BAA) has been established by the County Board of Commissioners pursuant to Minnesota Statute 394.27. The responsibilities of the BAA are further defined in the Washington County Development Code, Chapter One, Section 6, Appeals and Variances.


Planning Advisory Commission


The Washington County Planning Advisory Commission has been established by the Washington County Board of Commissioners pursuant to Minnesota Statute 394.30. The responsibilities of the Planning Advisory Commission are further defined in, Chapter One, Section 8, of the Washington County Development Code.

Plat Commission


The Washington County Plat Commission is an advisory panel that makes recommendations to the Washington County Board regarding land subdivision and platting in any township that has chosen to be subject to Chapter 3 of the Washington County Development Code.  Note that all other townships have their own process for orderly development.
The Plat Commission makes recommendations and gives advice to developers as needed to comply with the Development Code.
