Advisory Boards

Commissions and advisory boards meet on a regular basis to assist with the orderly development and use of land. Survey and Land Management staff provide technical support for each board/commission.

Board of Adjustment and Appeals


The Washington County Board of Adjustment and Appeals has been established by the County Board of Commissioners pursuant to Minnesota Statute 394.27. The responsibility of the Board is further defined in the Washington County Zoning Development Code, Chapter One, Section 6, Appeals and Variances.


Planning Advisory Commission


The Washington County Planning Advisory Commission has been established by the Washington County Board of Commissioners pursuant to Minnesota Statute 394.30. The responsibility of the Planning Advisory Commission is further defined in, Chapter One, Section 8, of the Washington County Development Code.

Plat Commission


The Washington County Plat Commission makes recommendations and gives advice to developers in affected townships. This is done in connection with the platting and subdivision of land located within the unincorporated areas of the county as required by Chapter Three, Subdivision Regulations, of the Washington County Development Code. No plat may be acted upon by the Washington County Board without first being reviewed by the Plat Commission and receiving its recommendations after a public hearing.
