North Environmental Center

Project Overview

A new second environmental center will be built near Highway 61 and Headwaters Parkway in Forest Lake. The new center will allow residents in the northern part of Washington County to dispose of hazardous materials, electronics, and other items that don’t belong in the trash. With this new location, residents won't have to travel as far to get rid of these items. Additionally, the Washington County Northern Yard Waste site, which is currently in Hugo, will move to be next to the new environmental center in Forest Lake.

The new environmental center will provide these services:

  • Collection of hazardous materials and electronics.
  • Self-serve recycling of cardboard, scrap metal, and mixed recycling.
  • Self-serve food scraps drop-off.
  • Self-serve yard waste drop-off.
  • Free product room.
  • Compost bin and rain barrel sales.
  • Shredding events.

Location
