Community Corrections offers an after school program for high risk youth on probation supervision. The program is held from September to May and helps to structure time after school by providing a variety of cognitive interventions. The cognitive behavioral interventions utilized target high risk need areas and teach skills necessary for positive behavior change and to reduce risk in the community. The academy is facilitated by two probation officers trained in a variety cognitive interventions. Youth are able to earn meaningful incentives for participation in group, such as earning community work service hours and reduction in time on probation. Parents are also encouraged to participate in bi-weekly education classes, designed to empower and support them while their youth is on probation supervision.
