The three-hour, in-person car seat safety training requirement has been waived at this time due to COVID-19. Instead, during the peacetime emergency, applicants, license holders, staff persons, and caregivers that transport a child under eight years old in a motor vehicle must review online information on the federal National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website and watch the "How to Choose the Right Seat" video, as well as car seat installation instruction videos for each type of car seat you will be using based on the age and size of the child(ren) you will be transporting. Provide your licensors with the date you reviewed this information.
Initial Child Passenger Restraint Training: An alternative to the initial in-person child passenger restraint system training is available during the peacetime emergency. The individual required to take the training must review the information on the federal National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website and watch the "How to Choose the Right Seat" video, as well as car seat installation instruction videos for each type of car seat they will be using based on the age and size of the children they are transporting. This waiver is effective July 16, 2020.
Renewing Child Passenger Restraint Training: As a reminder, the child passenger restraint training has been extended for those who have previously complete the in-person training and whose training expires during the peacetime emergency.
