All vehicle entering the park will need to have a valid Washington County Parks vehicle permit

XC Ski and Fat Tire Biking

Just beginning on classic skis? Come learn how to glide without shuffling! Skate skiers, make your move to the next hill. Helpful downhill survival techniques, "how to get up the next hill" and many more useful ski knowledge will be demonstrated.

Already an Intermediate skier?
Let us help you lengthen your glide on both classic and skate skis, or, how about some work on hill climbing or new skate techniques you haven't tried yet - like V2 and Field Skate?

Advanced skiers
, need some help honing your techniques for more efficiency? We'll show you how to work the trail for better performance or how to do transitions and technique variations.

Sound good? Join us at the Nordic Center. Registration with the RIDE & GLIDE ski club is required for ALL lessons. Plan to arrive early to sign-in before your desired time. You'll also need to get fitted for equipment. As part of the festival, free classic and skate equipment will be provided by Joe's Ski Shop and the Ride and Glide Ski Club

Fat Biking equipment and demonstrations will be provided by Now Bikes and Fitness.

MN Ski PassA MN Ski Pass is required to ski in Washington County Parks (age 16 and ). Purchase MN Ski Passes online, by phone or at the Lake Elmo Park contact station (ski passes are not required for snowshoeing).





Come try snowshoeing free as part of Winterfest at Lake Elmo Park Reserve! Enjoy snowshoeing the rolling hills, woods, and prairies of this beautiful park. The snowshoeing area of this park consists of a groomed trail along with vast spaces available for bushwhacking for those wanting their own space, to be more adventurous, or those seeking a greater workout. Open to all ages.

Two ways to register:

  • Register online with DIRO Outdoors to reserve your snowshoes for a specific time
  • Show up at the park at the DIRO tent near the trailhead with your ID and if there are snowshoes available, check them out and go explore. Arriving 10 minutes before the top of every hour is recommended.

Other event details: The Nordic Center has ample parking (overflow is across the park road at Eagle Point Trailhead), indoor seating and tables for guests, WiFi, restrooms with lockers and changing stalls, a water refill station, indoor fireplace, outdoor bonfire pit, ski racks and ski waxing stations. Please no cooking or food heating equipment allowed (crock pots, etc.) in the Nordic Center. The Soup Coupe Food Truck will be at the event from 11 am - 1 pm selling hot soup and wraps; please consider supporting The Soup Coupe at the event. Washington County Parks does not make snow or rent equipment.
