Play Areas
Playing free in the outdoors is one of the greatest joys of childhood. Washington County Parks provide play structures, ball fields, open fields, beaches, and woods to keep youngsters moving and intrigued for many hours of play.
Play areas at Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park, St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park, and Lake Elmo Park Reserve are all closed for the winter. The play area at Big Marine Park Reserve still remains open.

There is a large "destination" play area in the park that is actually two play areas installed in one general location. The gigantic creative playground is a favorite for children of all ages. The highly accessible playground features a towering 18-foot slide, a colossal climbing rock, and a 20-foot geodesic climbing web.
Installed in 2018, this new play area is near the main trailhead parking lot in Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park. The play are provides a great view of Ravine Lake and is a short walk to restrooms, drinking water and the fishing pier.
There are several play areas located throughout Lake Elmo Park Reserve. The largest "destination" play area is actually four separate play areas installed in one general location. There are slides, swings, tunnels, and more!
Each of the two reservation picnic areas also has a play area, and the campground has one, too.
A ball field, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, a half basketball court, and two tennis courts are located in the picnic area. A large play structure is also located in the picnic area. This is handicapped accessible.
