The Washington County SWAT Team is a multi-jurisdictional part-time team that serves the citizens of Washington County in high risk situations. All local law enforcement agencies within Washington County are represented on the team. The team consists of approximately 35 tactical members, 11 negotiators, and 6 communications personnel. The team responds to assist law enforcement agencies with the execution of high-risk search and arrest warrants, barricaded individuals, hostage situations, sniper situations, personnel protection and special assignments.
Those that are selected to serve on this team attend monthly training in
firearms and tactics. The team also participates in a week-long
training as well as many other training opportunities in-state and
out-state. The team is a member of the Special Operations and Training
Association of the Upper Midwest (SOTA) and the National Tactical
Operations Association (NTOA).
