Mapping Program

Digital parcel mapping started in the Surveyor's Office in April of 1989. Prior to 1989 all parcel map information was hand drawn. In April of 1998 all sections were completed in digital format with 81,838 parcels having been mapped. Since 1998 the parcel database has been maintained on a monthly basis. Parcel changes made each month to the tax system records are mapped and placed in the parcel map database the following month. All taxable parcels are accounted for by comparing database numbers to data supplied by the Taxpayer Services Division of Assessment, Taxpayer Services and Elections.

Monthly maintenance on the parcel map database is necessary to guarantee that it is current and accurate. This maintenance is triggered by and tied directly to events such as: recording of new Subdivision plats, Common Interest Community (CIC) plats, CIC plat amendments, Right of Way plats, easements and road vacations, annexations, parcel splits and combinations, geocode changes, adjusting of water lines, creating polygon coverage's, matching elements between sections, parcel map corrections; etc.

In addition to our parcel mapping program, our division also maintains a digital drawing file for municipal boundaries, school district boundaries and watershed district boundaries within Washington County. Please refer to the metadata link for detailed information on each dataset.

A special report was created for mapping the municipal boundaries with Washington County. To view the report, please select the link below.
