Volunteer Opportunities
Washington County Medical Reserve Corps
The Medical Reserve Corps is part of Citizen Corps, a new national initiative to mobilize and coordinate volunteers so communities across America can better respond to disasters of all kinds, including terrorist acts. As a specialized section of Citizen Corps, the Medical Reserve Corps:
Provides the essential conduit for health professionals to efficiently volunteer their expertise in times of need – as when the capacity of local public health is exhausted by an epidemic that requires mass immunizations.
Prepares volunteers for their roles in advance, enabling a prompt and effective emergency response.
The Medical Reserve Corps of Washington County is a countywide resource for health professionals and other volunteers organized by the Washington County Department of Public Health and Environment to respond to local health emergencies. It is being developed and managed in coordination with our federal, state and regional partners in public health.
