Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) is a nutrition education program that provides free supplemental foods which promote good health.
Who Is Eligible For WIC?
The following Washington County residents who meet the program's income guidelines:
- Pregnant women.
- Women breastfeeding an infant younger than 1 year of age.
- Women who have a baby younger than 6 months old.
- Infants and children up to 5 years old.
- Participation in Food Stamps, MFIP, Medical Assistance, or Minnesota Care is automatic income qualification for an individual.

How Do You Get WIC?
Call the Washington County WIC Program to apply and schedule an appointment. The phone number is 651-430-6658.
- At your appointment, a WIC professional will determine your eligibility. You must allow one hour for this appointment
- At your WIC appointment, you will also receive vouchers to exchange for foods provided by WIC at participating grocery stores (list provided).
What Does WIC Provide?
Nutrition information, infant and child feeding tips, breastfeeding counseling, referrals for health care, and supplemental foods like these for women and children:
- Milk
- Cheese
- Eggs
- Fresh, frozen, and canned fruits and vegetables
- Iron-fortified cereals
- Juice
- Peanut butter, dried peas and beans and/or canned beans
- Whole grain products, including bread, tortillas, brown rice and/or oatmeal
Infants receive the following:
- Iron-fortified infant formula
- Infant cereal
- Jarred baby foods
