From March to August 1999, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Adolescent Health Coordinator conducted youth focus groups through out the state. The purpose was to gather insights and opinions from youth about issues facing them and their peers. Washington County youth were included as two of the 38 groups. As a result of your opinions, MDH developed "Being, Belonging, Becoming: Minnesota's Adolescent Health Action Plan" to guide decisions about the best strategies and actions to support youth in Minnesota.
From September 2001 through May 2002, the Washington County Department of Public Health & Environment conducted a review of teen health needs. "Teens & Adults Say: What Teens Need to Be Healthy" is a summary of opinions from Washington County teens and adults about what is healthy/unhealthy for teens, who is being overlooked, and what can be done in local communities to meet the needs of teens healthy development.
