• Assists in locating licensed child care in Washington County. Sliding fee. Provides information, child care referrals and training for parents and child care givers. Sponsor of the Infant/Toddler and Project Exceptional training programs.

Child Care Licensing - Washington County Community Services -- 651-430-6455

• Orients, screens and licenses family child care providers, provides support and consultation around child behavior issues.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

• Provides family education programs for parents and children birth to age 5. Offers parenting classes, home visits, toy lending, resources, and family events. Fees depend on program.

Early Intervention Network - Washington County Public Health & Environment -- 651-430-6700

• Assists all Washington County families with children ages birth to three with questions about child development and special needs. Links families and coordinates services for children with special needs. Services are available at no charge.

Family Health Nursing - Washington County Public Health & Environment -- 651-430-6655

• Public health nurses provide in-home parent and health education and family support. Also assist families in finding needed resources. Services are available at no charge.

Head Start (Main # for Application)  -- 763-783-4328

• A comprehensive child development program primarily for children ages 3-5 serving families with low incomes. There is no cost for eligible families. Programs are offered in Forest Lake, Stillwater, Cottage Grove, and Oakdale.

• A program for children ages 3½ to 5 years which helps children prepare for kindergarten.
