Worksite Health Promotion
Washington County is committed to the health of its residents. Public Health and Environment staff work with employers to provide consultations, resources and networking services for worksite health programs. We now facilitate two Worksite Health Partnerships which meet on a quarterly basis in the central/north and central/south parts of the county. These partnerships are networking groups that allow wellness coordinators from a variety of employers to discuss worksite health promotion ideas, programs and concerns. Agenda items over the past year have included: nutrition, cancer prevention, physical activity, alternative medicine, stress management and the cost-benefits of employee health programs. There is no charge to join either group.
Our department can also provide a variety of resources including displays, and brochures on the following topics: nutrition, physical activity, chemical health, mental health, cardiovascular health, violence prevention, tobacco, stress management and early detection of chronic diseases.
The "HealthWave" is a quarterly newsletter that provides information on chronic disease prevention and other health issues with a Washington County focus.
