Adult Health

According to the 2003 Community Health Assessment, early death and disability from chronic disease is Washington County's number one health problem. Chronic disease is primarily due to unhealthy lifestyles and delayed detection of disease. Department efforts to address this problem include working in partnership with individuals, communities and systems. Taking care of yourself means life-long attention to your body's need for a balanced diet to provide good nutrition, staying active to keep our muscles strong and flexible, and fun and restful activities to reduce stress and enjoy optimal mental health. Balancing all these responsibilities doesn't have to be difficult. These web pages offer information and local, state and national resources to help you fulfill your desire for a long and healthy life.
