The Four Primary Functions of Taxpayer Services.
1) Collection of Property Taxes
In 2006, Taxpayer Services will process approximately 170,000 tax payments totaling $280 Million. A portion of this money is kept by Washington County for county operations, while most of it is distributed to schools, cities, and townships located in Washington County.
You can check to see if your property tax payment has been credited to your property by visiting our website at http://mn-washington.manatron.com/ and entering your property ID number or other search information.
2) Collection of Mortgage Registration Tax
In 2006, Taxpayer Services will process approximately 26,000 mortgage documents with a total state mortgage registration tax collection of $10 Million. Washington County will retain 3 percent / $300,000, while the remaining 97 percent / $9.7 Million will be remitted to the State of Minnesota.
3) Collection of State Deed Tax
In 2006, Taxpayer Services will process approximately 9,000 deed documents with a total state deed tax collection of $7 Million. Washington County will retain 3 percent / $210,000, while the remaining 97 percent / $6.79 Million will be remitted to the State of Minnesota.
4) Telephone Customer Service for PRTS Department
In 2006, Taxpayer Services will answer approximately 45,000 telephone calls from taxpayers, mortgage companies, title companies, realtors, etc., seeking information on property taxes, property valuations, property classifications, homestead status, other property details, and elections.
