Service and License Centers

Watercraft Titling, Registration and Transfer, ATV and Snowmobile Registration and Transfer

Watercraft

You can register your watercraft in person at any of the three License Centers. When you register your boat, know its length, manufacturer, type of hull material (wood, metal or plastic), type of propulsion, model, year, serial or hull identification number (HIN) and have a sales receipt that shows you have paid the sales tax if you bought it from a dealer. Sales between private parties do not require payment of sales tax.

If you have already registered your watercraft in Minnesota, you can renew your registration at any License Center. If you don't have the renewal notice that is sent by the Department of Natural Resources, bring in the Minnesota registration number that is on the side of the boat. We can renew your registration for you with that information.

Snowmobiles

To register your snowmobile at the License Centers, you will need the make, model, year, serial number, engine size and sales receipt that shows proof of tax paid - if purchased from a dealer. Sales between private parties do not require payment of sales tax. You must be at least 18 years old to have a snowmobile registered in your name.

Renewal of your snowmobile registration can be done at the License Centers also. If you do not have the renewal card sent by the Department of Natural Resources, you can come in with the Minnesota registration numbers on the side of your sled and we can renew your registration with that information.

ATV's, OHM's and ORV's

All terrain vehicles (ATV's), off-highway motorcycles (OHM's) and off-road vehicles (ORV's) can be registered at the License Centers. Information required for registration includes the make, model, year, serial number and sales receipt. For ATV and OHM registration the engine size is also required.

More specific information on the regulations and fees can be obtained at the License Centers in manuals printed by the Department of Natural Resources.
