Assessment & Values

The Assessment function is divided into two divisions - the Assessor Division and the Assessment Technical Support Division.  The Assessor Division is responsible for equitably distributing property taxes in Washington County and assigning property tax classifications. Specific functions include physical inspection and valuation of property, collection and maintenance of sales data, completion and evaluation of assessment ratio studies, administration of valuation appeals, and providing advice to municipalities and the County Board on assessment issues.
