Pine Point is a peaceful nature area with pine forests, lakes, and marshes. This park contains five miles of multi-use trails for biking, bird watching, cross-country skiing, hiking, and horseback riding on some of the finest trails in the Metropolitan area.

The park became a regional park in 2005, and serves as one of the major trailheads to the State of Minnesota's
Gateway Trail.

Cross-Country Ski Trails

Please note that this park is groomed for 'traditional' skiing only. Ski skating is not allowed anywhere in the park.

Five miles of trails in this County park have been designated for cross-country ski use. A large pine plantation is one of Pine Point Park's major features.  The trees create a tunnel effect that is pleasant to ski under.  The topography of  Pine Point Park is gently rolling, with enough variation in the terrain to offer skiers a challenge.  The trails are suitable for those with beginner to intermediate cross-country skiing skills.  A Minnesota Ski Pass is required for those skiers age 16 and above.  Ski passes are not available in the park, but and can be purchased anywhere DNR licenses are sold.  Parking and portable toilets are available in the park.

For the safety and enjoyment of all park visitors, please follow all park regulations and use basic trail etiquette.

  • Be courteous to other trail users.
  • Leave the ski trail in good shape.  Snowmobiles, hiking boots, sleds and snowshoes all destroy ski trails and are not allowed.
  • Skiers must follow one-way trails in the proper direction.
  • Leave your pet at home - they are not allowed on the ski trails.
  • Place litter in the parks's waste containers - not on the trail.
  • Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
