Tours of the Historic Courthouse and Old Jail

Call for times - 651-275-7075

Visit the Historic Courthouse and take a self-guided tour to learn about the history of the St. Croix Valley from territorial days to the present. See the courthouse video, old county jail, exhibit, artifacts, courtroom, Soldiers and Sailors' Monument, Civil War howitzer and more.

Self-guided tours are free.

Guided Tours: Call 651-275-7075 or e-mail historiccourthouse@co.washington.mn.us to schedule a guided tour for your group or organization. There is a small fee for organized guided tours.

Be Prepared:  A History of Boy and Girl Scouts

May 3 - Oct. 15, 2010
Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m ., Fridays 8 a.m. - noon
Weekends and Evenings by appointment only. 

The Boy and Girls Scouts are celebrating their 100th anniversary in America. In conjunction with the Northstar Museum of Scouting and the Washington County Historical Society, the courthouse will present an exhibit on the history of scouting. An exhibit grand opening will be Sunday, May 9, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm

Kickoff to Lumberjack Days and Amateur Talent Show

Wednesday, July 21, 2010, 4:30 p.m. to dusk

Join family and friends at this old-fashioned ice cream social on the courthouse grounds. Twenty-five cent root beer floats, penny candy, children's activities, a petting zoo, food and more make for a perfect evening of family fun. The Amateur Talent Show begins at 6 p.m. and features a variety of family-friendly acts.

Auditions for the Talent Show are scheduled for July 6, 7 and 12. Audition sign-up begins at 6 pm and auditions at 7 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. July 6 and 12 are open auditions. Victorian Christmas at the Historic Courthouse

Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, 10 a.m. -5 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, 11 a.m. -4 p.m.
$3 at the door

Start the holiday season at the beautifully decorated Historic Courthouse in Stillwater. Enjoy live music as you shop a wide variety of high-quality arts and crafts. Santa will make an appearance on Saturday and Sunday afternoons providing great picture opportunities. A Tea Room is available for a light lunch or snack. Visit a holiday exhibit and tour the old county jail. Costumed vendors and volunteers. Victorian Christmas is a fundraising activity for the operation and restoration of the Historic Courthouse.

$25 advance purchase $30 at the door

Enjoy appetizers, desserts, and beverages provided by the area's finest caterers while shopping for high-quality arts and crafts. Live music, jail tours, door prize, exhibit and a beautifully decorated bulding make this the perfect evening to start the holiday season. This is a fund-raising activity for the operation and restoration of the Historic Courthouse.

Victorian Tea and Program

Sunday, January 9, 2011      Noon   $25 a person.   Advance tickets required.  Tickets go on sale November 19, 2011.  

 Join staff and volunteers for a delightful afternoon in the beautiful Historic Courthouse courtroom.  The afternoon features a four-course tea, charming table settings and an entertaining program.  

A limited number of tickets are available for this event. 

Stillwater Bridal Affair

Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, Noon - 4:30 p.m.
$7.50 at the door

Discover the exceptional services and products available in the St. Croix Valley for your wedding or other special event. You may visit with vendors, sample food, see invitations, photography, decorating options and more. Live music and a Style Show round out the day in this lovely Victorian-era site.

History In Your Backyard

Sunday, April 3, 2011, Noon - 3 p.m.
FREE FREE FREE

Bring the family to learn about the rich history of Washington County and beyond as you visit with representatives from various historic sites and organizations. Old-fashioned games, historic artifacts and photos, refreshments, activities and a mock trial make this a great way to spend time with your family.

Scouts, home-schoolers, 4-H and other groups will find this day beneficial for fulfilling curricula and badge requirements.
