SHARING THE GIFT, dance program featuring Larry Yazzie and his son Jessup
In SHARING THE GIFT the Yazzies present a series of dances including the Fancy, Eagle, Buffalo, and Round, and contextualize them in their own experiences and in contemporary American Indian cultures. Show includes audience participation and is specially designed for families with children.

THE ROE FAMILY SINGERS, a fun program for all ages
The Roe Family Singers are a local family folk band consisting of husband and wife Quillan and Kim Roe and additional band members. They refer to themselves as a “good-time, hillbilly band” from Minnesota. Their instruments include the autoharp, kazoo, washboard, harp, banjo, guitar, and even a musical saw. For their performances in Washington County, the band will play children’s music that is a mix of traditional songs and their own songs. They incorporate audience participation and encourage audience members to think about the lessons contained in their songs.

Meet the author, CATHERINE THIMMESH An author program for kids & adults... Hardwood Creek Library, Saturday, April 10, 2010, 1 p.m. Catherine Thimmesh is the author of “Lucy Long Ago: Uncovering the Mystery of Where We Came From.” This fascinating and illustrated book contains computer generated images of an ape with some very human like features, named Lucy, whose bones were discovered in Ethiopia in 1974. Thimmesh describes the process of recovering the bones, interpreting them and also discusses their importance in discovering who humans are and where we came from. The book has been named a finalist for the 2010 Minnesota Book Awards in the Young People’s Literature category.
 Help us make a "Community Story Quilt" / A special program for children Artists from the MN Textile Center will help children create fabric art pieces in the style of author/illustrator Eric Carle. Children will be asked to decorate their block of fabric based on a favorite book, book character, story, or fairytale. All blocks of fabric will be sewn together to create a “Community Story Quilt” for display in the library.
