The demand for library services continues to grow in these tough economic times. However, in 2012 the Washington County Library's budget for purchased books will be reduced by $100,000. What remains ($650,000) will allow the library to continue to provide the basic core services county residents have come to expect.
To fill the gap in the library book budget, the library is seeking donations. The library's goal is $100,000 for children's books, large print books, ebooks and other materials for the collection.
In 2010, more than 1 million people visited the branch libraries located throughout the county. Also, 30,000 children and adults participated in children’s programs. More than 2 million books and other materials were borrowed.
