The Washington County Library and the Washington County HRA are offering FREE Foreclosure Counseling & Information Workshops to anyone who wants to ask questions and get advice from trained foreclosure prevention counselors.
Who should attend? Anyone who is behind on their mortgage, anyone who is worried about keeping up with mortgage payments, and anyone who wants to know more about the foreclosure process. If you are worried about foreclosure – seek help immediately. Waiting may limit your options!
What to Expect from the Workshops: The workshops are open houses - no pre-registration is required. The workshop will include a 45-minute presentation summarizing the foreclosure process. You will also have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with a foreclosure prevention counselor. It will help the counselor to respond to any concerns you have if you bring the following: (1) any communication received from your lender or loan servicer; (2) proof of income (e.g. recent pay stub); and (3) a copy of your mortgage statement.

“The value in speaking to a county foreclosure prevention counselor is identifying options,” says Barbara Dacy, Executive Director of the HRA. “Over 60 percent of households that have worked with one of the prevention counselors in 2009 have avoided foreclosure.”
