Have you ever wanted to get together with friends to discuss what you've been reading, but organizing a book discussion group seemed like one more chore you didn't have time for? Or do you belong to a book club that's at an impasse about what to read next?
Washington County Library has help for you -- "Instant Book Club" kits. Essentially everything you need to get started with your own book discussion group is in the kit. All you have to do is round up a group of readers!
Each kit contains 10 copies of one title, discussion questions about the title, and information about the author, along with some resource information about organizing book clubs and using the library to find supplementary materials. Everything is packed into one of our Washington County Library canvas bags. A kit is checked out to a single group member who is responsible for all of the materials. The group may keep the kit for 6 weeks.
Search for the kits in the Washington County Library collection by doing a series title search for "instant book club" or a subject keyword search for "book group kit collection", and place a request for the kit you'd like to use. We have 117 titles that are distributed among the various Washington County libraries. Titles include: The Kite Runner by Hosseini, The Tipping Point by Gladwell, and Frindle by Clements.
