Who can use the Legal Advice Clinics?
You must be a current Washington County resident or be involved in a Washington County court case. There are no restrictions on income to use this free service.
What can the volunteer attorney help with?
Answers to legal questions, procedural advice and review of completed court forms.
What services are provided by the Legal Advice Clinics?
You can receive a free 30-minute consultation from a volunteer attorney, who can offer advice and legal assistance regarding matters such as:
FAMILY LAW: marriage dissolution, child support, domestic abuse, paternity issues, child custody, visitation, spousal maintenance, name change.
CIVIL LAW: default judgment, housing/eviction, eviction expungement, creditor/debtor, judgment collection, consumer issues, conciliation court, automobile title transfer.
What services are NOT provided by the Legal Advice Clinics?
criminal, juvenile, probate, termination of parental rights, drivers license, child protection.
How do I arrange to meet with the volunteer attorney?
Family Law appointments are held on Tuesdays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Civil law appointments are held on alternating Mondays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. You must schedule an appointment ahead of time by calling 651-430-6296. You are required to bring any current court orders and forms pertaining to the consultation.
