Service Center & Library in Forest Lake
- Children's Reading Area in Library – Wall panels in the children's reading area of the new library contain 100% post-industrial recycled polyester fabric. The carpet tile throughout the building was installed with low volatile organic compounds (VOC) adhesive.
- Hallway – The linoleum flooring is made from all natural materials – flax seed, linseed oil, rosins, cork wood flour, limestone, and jute.
- Office – Zero VOC paint was used for public and staff areas. Office stations were remanufactured to reduce costs and panel fabrics made of 100% recycled polyester. Use of natural light increases energy efficiency.
- Exterior Building and Landscape – Thermoplastic Overlay (TPO) roofing (Energy Star® rated) has high solar reflectance which lowers the heat island effect and reduces utility consumption for cooling. Native and low-maintenance plantings, which require no irrigation, were incorporated in the landscape.
- Entry Floor Mat – Floor mat made from recycled tires.
- Reception Desk – Fabrics on desks panels made of synthetic material free of PVC, chlorine, plasticizers, heavy metals, and dioxin.
- Conference Room – Side mesh chairs are 95% recycled content and the aluminum windows contain up to 60% recycled aluminum.
