New Compostable Bag Requirements for curbside yard waste collection
On Jan. 1, 2010, plastic bags were banned from curbside yard waste collection use. Yard waste bagged for curbside pickup is required to be in compostable bags, available in both paper (kraft) and plastic. Residents who use yard waste carts provided by their hauler are not affected.
This law does not apply to residents to who debag yard waste at a drop-off facility.
Compostable bags available at most home improvement, grocery, and hardware stores. Find out more at RethinkRecycling.com.
