Educational Neglect Definitions

Under Minnesota State Statute, parents are required to provide their child(ren) with food, clothing, shelter, and education. Elementary school age children who have demonstrated serious attendance problems can be referred for Diversion Services or Child Protection Intervention if least intrusive efforts have been unsuccessful.
