Washington County Owner-Occupied Residential Rehabilitation Deferred Loan Program

Washington County Program Offers Help with Home Improvements

Many lower-income residents needing home repairs have a new option for help thanks to a program made possible through Washington County.  The Washington County Board in the summer of 2005 approved a contract with the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation's Housing Resource Center to assist lower-income people in coordinating and financing needed smaller repairs and improvements. The Owner-Occupied Residential Rehabilitation Deferred Loan program is available to applicants in Washington County communities that participate in the federal Community Development Block Grant program.

Owner-Occupied Residential Rehabilitation Deferred Loan

  • Available for county residents at or below 60 percent of median area income.
  • The maximum deferred loan amount is $12,500. The loan has no interest and no monthly payment. The full amount of the loan will become due when the homeowner sells, transfers, or conveys title to the property.
  • Priority projects include safety and accessibility improvements, code-related improvements, and projects to reduce long-term energy or maintenance costs.
