Washington County Crisis Assistance Fund

The Washington County CDBG Crisis Assistance Fund provides assistance to those families and individuals currently or imminently homeless to assist these households in retaining secure and affordable housing. These may be households that have received emergency funding in the year prior, making them ineligible for that funding, and/or do not meet the eligibility requirements of those programs. CDBG Crisis Assistance Fund becomes an alternative funding resource to prevent shelter placement in those circumstances.
Washington County CDBG Crisis Assistance Fund serves families and individuals who are currently homeless or imminently at risk of homelessness. Priority is given to those households who are 80% or below AMI. The Housing Coordinator is the facilitator of fund distribution after assessment of the household's situation.

The Washington County Housing Coordinator will grant CDBG Crisis Assistance Fund only when and to the extent that funding for the program is available through the grant process of CDBG funding per year. CDBG funding is acquired through the public services component allocated to Washington County by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Use of these funds by the applicant(s) is a once in a lifetime usage and is discretionary per assessment of an applicant(s) current situation.

CDBG Crisis Assistance Fund can be used toward housing related activities including first month's rent and damage deposits, eviction and mortgage foreclosure prevention, emergency shelter and application fees. The application process assesses the family's need for funding and cost affordability. Clients who access the program's funding are required to participate in a goal oriented self sufficiency contract with the Housing Unit.
