Benefit Information


(May vary, depending upon bargaining group/union affiliation.)

Compensation:
New employees will generally be hired at the minimum appropriate salary level.

Holidays:
Eleven holidays are observed by Washington County employees. These holidays may differ with bargaining agreements (union contracts).

Part-time employees receive holiday pay at a pro-rated amount equivalent to their full-time equivalency; i.e., a .75 FTE (full-time equivalent) would receive 6 hours of holiday pay.

Pay Dates:
County employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule with pay days every other Friday. Employees will receive their first check within 30 days of their date of hire. Direct deposit of paychecks is required.

Probationary Period:
Regular Washington County employees will serve a six-month probationary period. (Sheriff's office staff and probation officers normally serve a one-year probationary period).

Time Off Program:
Enrollment will be based on bargaining group affiliation.

Retirement Program:
Participation in Public Employees Retirement Association (P.E.R.A.) - http://www.mnpera.org - and FICA are required. Both the employee and the employer make contributions in accordance with current legislative requirements.

Insurance Benefits Program:
Washington County's Cafeteria Benefit Plan gives employees an opportunity to design a benefit package that more closely fits their personal needs and goals. Washington County makes monthly Employer Contributions to purchase benefits from a menu of items. The following benefits are considered CORE and are required for all plan participants:

Long-Term Disability

Additional Optional coverages available for purchase through payroll deductions include:

*Spouse Life Insurance

*Employee's Full-time Equivalent must be at least .50 to purchase these benefits.

Specific information regarding Washington County's monthly contribution, coverages and costs will be provided with the conditional offer of employment or upon request by the applicant.

Effective date of all insurance coverages is dependent upon the employee's date of hire. Coverage is effective no less than 30 days and no more than 60 days following the start day; i.e., start date of February 1 coverage is effective March 1; start date of February 2 coverage is effective April 1.

Payroll Deductions:
Washington County withholds the following mandatory deductions: FICA, Medicare FICA, State (Minnesota) and Federal taxes, and P.E.R.A. (See Retirement Programs listed above).
