Jim Ryder, a Wisconsin native, journeyed solo by dog team 800 miles from Nenana to Nome, Alaska, in early 2011, replicating the original Serum Run, the route that brought diphtheria antitoxin to Nome in 1925. He will share stories and images and display much of his gear, and discuss his preparation for the adventure.
Jim Ryder, Wisconsin native, journeyed solo by dog team, 800 miles from Nenana to Nome, Alaska in early 2011, replicating the original Serum Run which follows part of the Iditarod Trail. This is the route of the sled-dog relay that carried diphtheria antitoxin to Nome in 1925. Jim will share sto-ries, images and display much of his gear as well as discuss his preparation for the adventure, in-cluding dog training.
